Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB ordering cut to size sheets online

Plywood is one of the most popular types of board material. It is strong, lightweight with a smooth top layer. This Asian hardwood plywood panel shares these qualities. Plywood can be cut or milled to size in various shapes. The most commonly chosen shape  is a rectangle, but we also mill circles, ovals, hexagons or even parallelograms to size. Order cut-to-size Plywood easily online. For a neat finish for your DIY project, choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB: what is that?

Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB is a popular plywood-variant because it is economical. It has similar properties to meranti plywood. It is interior glued and therefore only suitable for interior applications.
Each panel has a unique appearance, as it is constructed from various hardwood species. The hardwood base makes this board material impact-resistant and popular for joinery. This also makes the material more hard wearing. The wood grain is often clearly visible, which creates coarse grains in the wood. If the panel material is to be exposed, please take this appearance into account. The pattern of the wood grain runs lengthwise in the panel material as standard.

Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB is composed of several hardwood veneer layers. These layers are glued together crosswise, resulting in a sturdy panel. However, the glued wood can be subject to tension during sawing and machining. This may lead to a slight curvature in longer panels.

Visual quality structural B/BB

The visual quality of plywood is indicated by letter combinations that describe the quality of the top layers. The first letter stands for the visible side (top) and the second letter for the reverse side (bottom). This classification only refers to the face veneer; other properties, such as gluing or structural strength, are assessed separately. Read more about all visual qualities here.

A common combination is B/BB, which is regularly used in structural or less decorative applications. In this designation, ‘B’ indicates the quality of the visible side, while ‘BB’ describes the quality of the reverse side.

This sheet material is B/BB grade. This means that the top side (B side) generally has a neat appearance, but may still contain natural irregularities such as slight colour variations, small knots or subtle repairs. The underside (BB side) has more visible imperfections, such as larger knots, repairs and variations in colour and structure.

Because the visual quality is slightly lower than that of higher classifications, B/BB plywood is often used in construction projects, interior finishes, furniture construction and situations where the surface may be visible, but aesthetics are not the most important requirement. The material offers a good balance between technical performance and an acceptable appearance for functional applications. This also keeps the board affordable.

In short: B/BB plywood offers a decent visual quality that is suitable for construction applications where a neat but not perfectly finished appearance is sufficient.

Available thicknesses of Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB

Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB can be ordered in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process to meet your size requirements. The following thicknesses are available: 9 mm, 12 mm and 18 mm.

Machining Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB panels

Working with plywood is easy when you have sharp tools. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill bit with a centring point. Pre-drilling is also recommended. This board material may discolour over time, so finish it with a clear varnish, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges to prevent the varnish or stain from soaking into the plywood, which can lead to loosening of the veneer layers.

Specific applications Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB

Plywood Asian goldplex B/BB is highly suitable for projects such as floorboards, joinery, moulds, but also as a base for furniture work. The sheet material is interior glued and therefore can only be used indoors. We do not recommend using this sheet material where it will be visible.
