It will make your kitchen look better, without too much effort. We tell you how!

Kitchen cabinet doors of underlayment

Underlayment is a tough and contemporary material that is increasingly seen in interiors, restaurants, cafés and public places. It is an affordable construction material that was previously used to reinforce structures, such as floors.
Underlayment Finnish Spruce is the variant that you can order from TOSIZE.be. The material has a good visual quality. The quality indication is II/III, which is comparable to B/CP quality. This good visual quality also makes Underlayment Finnish Spruce suitable for use for decorative applications, such as kitchen cabinet doors. It is made of Finnish spruce, which gives the board a natural appearance due to the wood grain and the clear colour.

What exactly is Finnish spruce underlayment?

Underlayment Finnish Spruce is a plywood consisting of 7 layers and is made of Finnish spruce. Just like other types of plywood, Underlayment Finnish Spruce consists of several layers of wood veneer. These layers are glued crosswise to each other, which makes the panel very strong and hardly works. These are also the advantages of such types of plywood compared to solid wood. The end edges are beautiful because of the layers and are often kept in sight. The only thing to consider when working with Finnish pine underlayment is the risk of splitting. The applications of Finnish spruce underlayment

Underlayment Finnish spruce has stronger moisture-resistant properties. It is therefore suitable for applications in damp spaces and is also very suitable in the kitchen.

Treating underlayment

In principle, you do not need to treat underlayment when using it in the kitchen as it is naturally moisture-resistant. However, for longer enjoyment of your kitchen cabinet doors, it is wise to treat the material. Do you want to keep the natural look of underlayment? Then use a transparent varnish, oil or stain. This protects the material against dirt and moisture and keeps it beautiful for longer.

Do you think it is important to show only the wood grain on the kitchen cabinet doors? Then you can treat the material with an oil, stain or lacquer in the colour that suits your interior. In this case, don't forget to treat the ends of the material properly. Use an  edge sealant to make the ends of underlayment moisture proof.

Making your own kitchen cabinet doors

It is quite possible to make and replace kitchen cabinet doors yourself. We would like to give you some tips & tricks to guarantee a beautiful end result. Something to be proud of! It starts with a very precise job, namely measuring the existing doors.

Measuring kitchen cabinet doors

The result of the new kitchen cupboard doors is determined by the correct dimensions and the way they are fitted. And of course the sawing work, but we'll take that off your hands. Make a simple sketch of your kitchen, so you can easily add the measurements after measuring. Do this with a good tape measure!

Our tip: measure the current dimensions of the doors and stick to that. An alternative is to measure the outer dimensions of the cupboards and then subtract 2 mm on the left and right. That way, all the doors fit neatly next to each other.
It can help to have someone measure the dimensions you have determined. Only then will you really have a made-to-measure kitchen cupboard door!

Use kitchen cabinet hinge (soft close)

Kitchen cabinet hinges are hinges that work without a pin and are also called pot hinges or drill-in hinges. These hinges can be concealed, so that, for example, kitchen cabinet doors can be connected to each other almost seamlessly. Furthermore, these hinges often have an 'open position', which means that they have a fixed position when open and therefore do not move back and forth. The soft-close system ensures that they close silently.

Mounting a kitchen hinge is easy, provided you have the right tools. It is necessary to drill a round hole in the door with a pot-hole drill so that the hinge can be fitted into it. It is very important to measure the position of the hinge properly before you start drilling. The great advantage of these hinges is that they are adjustable, even after assembly.

Ordering underlayment to measure

Once you have decided on the right dimensions, you can order the underlayment for the kitchen cabinet doors. TOSIZE.be will be happy to saw the wood to millimetre accuracy. So you don't have to worry about that! Order underlayment with a thickness of 18mm, so the wood is also thick enough to fix the hinge.

It can be nice to finish the edges with a rounding. This gives a soft look to the result; the finishing touch. TOSIZE.be can also take care of the edge finishing for you.
