Working with Black MDF

Ingmar made the wall shelf from Black MDF. MDF is a material made from small wood fibers pressed under high pressure into a board. With Black MDF, black dye is added during the production process, making the material black throughout. You still see some wood fibers here and there, giving the material a mottled appearance.
